Wonder 302 (Spurn Point)

A landscape oil painting inspired by a sublime day at Spurn Point, Yorkshire, UK.

Spurn Head, at the end of the hauntingly beautiful point, sticks out into the Humber river. The sand in the foreground has been shaped by the action of the sea meeting the outflow of the mighty river – this ever-changing landscape feature is a distinctive characteristic of the point. The turbulence the sand suggests, and the fierce high altitude winds working on the cirrus clouds, co-exist with the lazy summer sea and languid blue sky.
